COME PLAY WITH US — HARVEY

Oklahoma Performing Arts believes theatre is at its best when people come together to create, explore, laugh, and discover something about one another.

This spring, LUEY — Let Us Entertain You continues that tradition with Mary Chase’s classic comedy Harvey, directed by Karmen Golden Bough.

Meet Elwood P. Dowd: a gentle, gracious man who seems to have time for everyone he meets. Elwood also happens to have a best friend named Harvey—a six-foot-plus invisible rabbit.

When Elwood’s sister, Veta, decides his friendship with Harvey has become too disruptive to their family’s social standing, she sets out to have Elwood committed. Instead, a hilarious misunderstanding turns everyone’s carefully ordered world upside down.

As doctors, family members, friends, and strangers try to determine exactly who needs help, Harvey quietly asks its audience a bigger question: Who really understands how to live best?

Funny, eccentric, tender, and surprisingly thoughtful, Harvey celebrates kindness, individuality, friendship, and the possibility that there may be more to the world—and to one another—than what we can immediately see.

Whether you know Harvey well or are meeting Elwood and his unusual companion for the first time, we invite you to audition and become part of the next LUEY production at Oklahoma Performing Arts.

Come as you are. Bring your creativity. Bring your joy. And don’t worry—we’ll save a place for Harvey.
